Historia In order to select the legal entity, that through a concession contract would manage and economically exploit the Cartagena de Indias airport, the Aeronaútica Civil de Colombia (Colombian Offical Civil Aviation Entity) opened a public bid process, reigned by Law 80 and Law 1105 of 1993.

In August, 1996, SACSA signed the Concession Contract 0186 for 15 years and starting September that same year, took over the administration of the airport, which includes direct management and housekeeping of the airport facilities, thus ensuring investments to bring the Rafael Nuñez International Airpot to OACi standards and to achieve efficient service and safety levels for its users.

In 1998, SACSA started a new phase in the development of its activities. The operating partner, Schipol Management Services sold their shares to AENA, Spanish firm, with great experience in managing airport services.

As a result of an excellent administration, the 3rd of March, 2010, Aeronaútica Civil (Colombian Official Civil Aviation Entity) granted SACSA the administration of the airport for another 9 years, which ensured then investments in the amount of 103 million Colombian pesos to carry out works to continue with the optimization of the capacity and the attention to be offered to airport users.
